MIKE BACIOR: First off, I want to say thank you to you and your manager Mr. Rhee for doing another interview, and congrats on the big win over a very tough fighter in Leonard Garcia.
CHAN SUNG JUNG: Thanks!
BACIOR: So in the post fight interview, you said that you got the twister from Eddie Bravo via YouTube videos. Could you go into how you implemented it from YouTube?
JUNG: Well, just like I said, I saw the video on YouTube about three years ago and thought it looked like fun. So, I watched it over and over and started trying it out at the gym. Eventually, I tried it on pretty much anyone who walked through the doors at Korean Top Team. I was always telling everyone that I was going to use it in a fighter sooner or later, and I finally got my chance.
BACIOR: Were you surprised to hit the move as successfully as you did? And did it surprise you that Garcia tapped with only one second left?
JUNG: Actually, I was surprised that it ended up that way. I really wasn't planning to try the move before the fight, or anything like that. I guess after all the time I spent training it, it just came out naturally. I think maybe if Leonard new there was only one second left, he might not have tapped, but then again, when you're in the situation, things look a little different. It's a painful move to be caught in.
BACIOR: How good did it feel to end this two-fight skid in such a dynamic and decisive way?
JUNG: I was hoping to end the fight with the KO, but to get the win with a twister is another feeling altogether. So, yeah, it feels great!
BACIOR: What is next for "The Korean Zombie"?
JUNG: Rest! I just want to be stress free for a while. Those two back to back losses were really tough for me, so I just want to relax and enjoy this win for a while.
BACIOR: I heard rumors that you were planning on changing your style after the loss to George Roop. Did anything like that come to fruition?
JUNG: Definitely. That loss really lead me to re-evaluate my game. I had to take a cold hard look at what I was doing in the cage and make some changes to my fighting style. I think that loss allowed me to win this fight.
BACIOR: How is training at Korean Top Team going? And what was your time with Urijah Faber and Team Alpha Male like?
JUNG: Training at Korean Top Team is going well. It's always tough and challenging and we have a lot of good guys on the team to work with. The coaches are really great, too. Training with Urijah and the guys at Team Alpha Male was a great experience. The guys there, the coaches, everyone was awesome. They treated me really well and I really learned a lot. I absolutely plan to go back again sometime.
BACIOR: Do you think it added much to your game?
JUNG: Training with all of those world class fighters can only help your game. They have so many of the top lighter weight guys in MMA, you can't help but learn if you're there. I think training with a different team, where they do things differently than you're used can be a good thing sometimes.
BACIOR: Your teammate, Dongi Yang, recently picked up a stoppage win on the Diego Sanchez-Martin Kampmann card. Is he a middleweight to look out for?
JUNG: No doubt. He's a great fighter. His fights are always exciting and he's only getting better. I think with time he'll be a force to contend with in the MW division.
BACIOR: Finally, if you would, I'd like to ask for some of your predictions on upcoming bouts:
- Faber vs Cruz 2 in July?
JUNG: Faber will win again. I haven't fought Cruz before, but Urijah is super tough, so I say Faber takes this one by submission.
- GSP-Shields?
GSP. I love GSP. I'll take GSP by UD.
- Aldo-Homonick?
I think Aldo will win by KO, but I kind of wish Hominick would win by KO. I like Hominick because he beat George Roop so dominantly. I'm still bitter about that Roop loss. Can you tell?
BACIOR: Thank you very much for your time, Mr. Jung. Good luck in whatever is next for you in the UFC Mr. Jung!
JUNG: Thank you and thanks to all the fans!
